FAQs

How is Willow® 3.0 different from other wearable pumps?

Willow 3.0 is the only wearable pump that offers total mobility—360 degrees of motion enabled by our patented, continuous latch suction technology and Spill-Proof Milk Bags. Other wearable pumps imitate Willow 3.0’s in-bra design, but leak if you move too much.

It's also the only in-bra wearable pump that offers two ways to pump and store your milk - choose from self-sealing Milk Bags or Containers.

What are the differences between Willow 3.0 and Willow Go?

Willow 3.0 offers complete, leak-free mobility when pumping with our Spill-Proof Milk Bags. With its gravity-defying continuous latch suction technology, you can pump in any position, from bending over to lying down. Willow Go doesn’t offer as full of a range of motion, but offers the same completely in-bra design and lets you pump totally hands-free and untethered. Willow Go’s “tug and release” suction technology is comparable to traditional pumps and other wearable pump brands.

Willow 3.0 offers more milk storage options. It’s compatible with Spill-Proof Milk Bags and reusable Containers, while Willow Go offers Containers only.

Both pumps are app connected, but Willow 3.0 offers smart pumping that tracks volume in real time and automatically records your session. Check out our comparison page for more, or take our pump quiz to decide which pump is right for you.

Is Willow 3.0 covered by insurance?

Some women are able to obtain full or partial reimbursement for their Willow Pump and accessories through insurance. Use our Insurance Verifier to check your coverage and purchase your discounted pump.

As you navigate through this process, start with our guide on how to get a breast pump covered by your insurance. It gives you all the questions that you need to take to your insurance provider to understand how to obtain coverage and the costs involved.

Can I use my HSA/FSA?

Yes, you can. Simply pay for your breast pump, milk bags and accessories using your FSA/HSA debit card at checkout, or pay with another credit card and submit your receipt to your plan administrator for reimbursement.

Do you offer financing?

Yes! We partner with Affirm to offer split pay and installment payment plans for the Willow Wearable Breast Pump. Learn more about our financing options.

Do I need to use Milk Bags with Willow 3.0?

No, Willow 3.0 is the only pump that offers the option to pump into Spill-Proof Milk Bags or Reusable Containers. Milk Bags enable total 360 degree mobility, while Containers offer 180 degree mobility, superior to other wearable pumps.

What are the new features for Willow 3.0?

We’ve re-engineered how Willow pumps to yield more milk per session–and offer more comfort and control. Generation 3.0 has a slower, softer pumping rhythm and a sensitivity setting for comfort, plus new Smart Suction Technology that adjusts based on your preferences to help you get more milk. Compatible with our new app exclusively for Generation 3.0, which offers fast, easy pairing and step-by-step onboarding.

What does the Willow 3.0 app do?

Our easy-to-pair app lets you control your pump and track progress in real time, plus view pumping history. The app is available for iOS 14 and higher and Android OS 10 and higher. Please see list of compatible devices.

What can I do with the Willow 3.0 app for Apple Watch?

Start and pause your pumps, increase and decrease suction, track your pumping session in real time, and check your pumps’ battery levels. When Willow 3.0 isn’t in use, glance down at your watch to see when you last pumped. Willow 3.0 for Apple Watch is compatible with watchOS 8 and above, and Apple Watch Series 3 or later.

Can I pump using my Apple Watch and leave my phone at home?

No. Willow 3.0 for Apple Watch is a companion app, meaning that it uses data from the Willow 3.0 app on your mobile phone. Therefore, your phone will need to remain within ~30 feet of your watch during your session.

Does Willow 3.0 work with larger breast sizes?

Yes. Willow was designed to work with larger breast sizes including G and H bra cups.

We strongly recommend measuring yourself to determine your Willow size as it might be different from other pumps you’ve used. Unsure of your size? Visit our sizing guide or check out our exhaustive guide on how to measure your flange sizewhich includes pro tips from Willow’s lactation consultants.

Do I need a special bra for Willow 3.0?

No. But Willow 3.0 works best with a bra that provides a supportive, snug fit to hold it in place so pumping is even easier on you. We recommend wearing a full-coverage nursing bra that’s stretchy and has a flap. Avoid bras with underwire or padding. Go for maximum comfort and maximum support. The Perfect Pumping Bra has all of the above.

What do you mean by hospital grade suction strength?

We know every ounce matters when it comes to pumping and breastfeeding, so we engineer and test our pumps to optimize milk expression and comfort. Willow 3.0 and Willow Go have a wearable, in-bra design, with a suction range and strength that is comparable to traditional double electric and hospital grade pumps. Willow 3.0 offers a proprietary continuous latch suction and unique pumping waveform with up to -245mmHG maximum suction. Willow Go offers maximum suction up to -280mmHG. Willow pumps are closed system pumps, just like hospital grade pumps.

While Willow’s suction strength is equivalent to hospital grade pumps, Willow pumps are single-user and have been clinically tested with established milk supply. Consult your health care provider if you are seeking to initiate lactation with a breast pump.

Will Willow 3.0 still work if I produce more than four ounces on each side?

Our Spill-Proof Milk Bags and Reusable Containers hold up to 4 oz of milk (8 oz total). Willow 3.0 automatically shuts off when your Milk Bag or Container is full. If you pump more than 4 oz in a single session, you can easily switch out the bag or empty the container and continue pumping.

Does Willow 3.0 have a warranty?

Yes! Willow 3.0 is covered under a 12 month warranty from the purchase date, and pump accessories — all replaceable pump parts including but not limited to flanges, FlexTubes™, containers, milk bags, diaphragms, duckbills, chargers and sizing inserts — are covered under a 90 day warranty. Please review our warranty policy.

Since breast pumps are single-user devices, use by more than one person, including purchasing second hand, will invalidate the warranty. Please keep your original proof of purchase from onewillow.com or an authorized retailer as it is required to exercise your warranty.

Willow cannot be used with any charger that is not provided with the pump or purchased as an accessory from Willow. Usage of third-party charging accessories is unsafe, may cause serious damage to your pump, and will invalidate the warranty.

Can I return Willow 3.0?

Breast pumps and accessories are regulated as single-user products, and cannot be returned once the safety seal has been broken. See our returns policy.

• You can return an unopened Willow Pump within 60 days of the purchase date. If you decide to return your unopened pump or accessories, you must contact us to start the return process and to obtain a RMA number. Please review our return policies.

• Only products purchased from onewillow.com may be returned directly to us. For products purchased from our retail partners, please follow their instructions.

• Willow pumps are single-user medical devices and returns must be new, unopened (no seals broken), unused, and in the original packaging.

Incredible pump!!!

I used the spectra with my first 2 babies but each time, gave up pumping after a few months because I hated the suction pattern and most of all, hated being wired and tubed. So this time around I tried the Willow 3.0; I started pumping after 1 nursing session each day (I started pumping at 4 days PP because I am an overproducer and need to empty once a day with a pump to avoid mastitis.. learned that the hard way with a prior baby) and now only 16 days PP have a 70oz stash in the freezer!! The reusable containers are so easy to use once you figure out how to switch to setting #2 correctly so it doesn’t spill, and I’ve never had trouble cleaning, drying or assembling. I like the bags too but I have to scald my frozen milk so I prefer the containers unless I’m out of the house, then I prefer the bags. I respond well to the suction pattern and can empty both breasts in 5 minutes or less. And because I can be mobile while pumping, I find myself reaching for the Willow more than I ever used the spectra. If I can pop the pumps in my bra and continue doing dishes, making dinner, reading a book to my toddler, eating breakfast, etc then why wouldn’t I?! It’s made pumping so much more accessible for a busy mom like me. I often think to myself “wow if all I had was my spectra, I wouldn’t be pumping right now and I would have either lost this opportunity to add to my stash, or sent my body a message to decrease production”. And it gives me a good laugh to tell people I have a miniature…

Absolutely Love It!

Love this pump. It’s truly hands free and allows me to move about and do what I need to. It pumps just as well as the hospital pump I used. I love that it keeps track of my supply per session and per day especially while my son has been in NICU so I know exactly how much I’ve given the hospital. Otherwise I’d have no idea except counting bottles (and I promise you, pumping or feeding every two or three hours is exhausting enough). Highly recommend for stay at home moms, moms on the go, and working moms. You won’t regret it! I would recommend “practicing” the flip before having baby. It’s a small learning curve when so much is going on plus medications, sleep deprivation, etc. Just put the pump together, add some water to where the milk would enter, and practice the flip that way so you’re not crying over spilled milk. Thankfully I produced enough from the start so I wasn’t in tears over a few drips, but I know some struggle at the start so spill water, not milk.

So convenient!

My maternity leave ended and I had to go back to work so I ordered this pump for while I’m in the office. It is so convenient and easy to use (there is a little learning curve). Not only has my supply increases from using this but I can pump on my commute to/from work so no worry about feeling engorged

Great Pump!

I am very happy with my Willow pump. I enjoy being able to pump hands free even if I’m just sitting around doing nothing. It’s very easy to use and I love that the app shows the amount of milk that has been produced as well as the length of time of each pumping session. It also has a good battery life.
